We’re looking for a proactive Driver/Fleet Assistant to join our team at our head office in Steeton (West Yorkshire).

The purpose of the role is to safe and efficient driving support across the UK, including ad hoc van swaps, vehicle preparation for new drivers, basic stock delivery tasks, and maintaining the overall vehicle park.

Hours: Mon–Fri, varied start times (some weekends may be required) 
Salary: £12.70 (over 40 hours time + 1/4)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ad-hoc van swaps, ensuring the efficient movement and exchange of vehicles between installers and engineers to maintain operational flow.
  • Provide essential support during vehicle recovery scenarios.
  • Manage the delivery and collection of vehicles to and from various garages and off-site locations.
  • Assist with the logistics of stock delivery and the transport of specialized parts as required.
  • Take responsibility for the vehicle park, ensuring all vans are organized, accessible, and ready for immediate use.
  • Prepare vehicles for new drivers, ensuring they are thoroughly cleaned, valeted, and fully equipped with all necessary items.
  • Perform mini valets and ensure vehicles are cleared of equipment or debris at factory locations.
  • Conduct diligent daily vehicle inspections and report any defects promptly to the Fleet Department or Transport Manager.
  • Maintain the highest standards of road safety and legality, strictly adhering to company policies and all relevant traffic regulations.
  • Support the transport and operations teams with additional driving duties, including professional transport for airport and hotel requests.
  • Some weekend or Bank Holiday working may be required, therefore flexibility is essential.
  • Duties may involve occasional early starts, late finishes. Late notice movements.
  • Overnight stays may be necessary on an ad hoc basis during exceptional operational circumstances.
  • European travel may be required

Skills and Experience:

  • Must possess a valid, full UK driving licence.
  • Previous experience in a driving or transport support capacity is preferred.
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of vehicle safety checks and standard operating procedures.
  • Proven ability to coordinate and manage vehicle movements with high efficiency.
  • Strong geographical knowledge and the confidence to navigate diverse routes across the UK.
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to accurately complete essential digital or paper documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills coupled with a professional, customer-centric approach.
  • Practical knowledge and experience in applying safe manual-handling techniques.
  • Competence in performing basic vehicle maintenance tasks and maintaining cleanliness standards.
