We are currently looking for an Storage Administrator to join our IT department at our Headquarters in Steeton (West Yorkshire, UK).

As the Storage Administrator, you will play a crucial role in managing our file share infrastructure, SAN environments, and backup systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and security of our file shares and SANs, as well as implementing and maintaining robust backup solutions to safeguard our data. 

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 (DOE)

Standard Hours: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and administer file share systems, including configuration, monitoring, and maintenance. 
  • Design, implement, and maintain Storage Area Networks (SANs) to meet performance and capacity requirements. 
  • Enforce security policies and access controls to protect sensitive data stored in file shares and SANs. 
  • Proactively manage SAN and NAS storage environments by monitoring alerts, incoming work pipelines, and troubleshooting complex hardware and performance issues. 
  • Work with storage technology vendors to resolve complex challenges and optimize storage infrastructure. 
  • Manage backup infrastructure, including backup software, tape libraries, and disk-based backup systems. 
  • Develop and regularly test backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability. 
  • Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot issues, and perform regular backups and restores as needed. 
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including backup procedures and disaster recovery plans. 
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and best practices in file share, SAN, and backup management, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 
  • 5+ years of experience managing file share systems, Storage Area Networks (SANs), and backup infrastructure in enterprise environments, with a specific focus on backup management. 
  • Proficiency in storage technologies, such as NFS, SMB/CIFS, iSCSI, and SAN/NAS architectures. 
  • Strong knowledge of backup and recovery concepts, backup software, and disaster recovery planning 
  • Experience with backup technologies such as Veeam, BackupExec, Avamar or similar solutions. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex storage and backup issues. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Storage+, EMC Proven Professional, NetApp Certified Data Administrator, Veeam Certified Engineer) are a plus.
